Dwell Times for Effective Disinfection

Written by Zogics | May 18, 2020

Learn how proper contact times kill the Coronavirus and other pathogens on surfaces.

A common question we've received lately is, “How do I know that the products I’m using are effectively killing the Coronavirus?”. The answer lies in the dwell time of the disinfecting product being used. Dwell time (also referred to as contact time) is the amount of time the surface must remain visibly wet in order to kill disease-causing bacteria before the disinfectant is wiped off. The surface needs to be left undisturbed for the dwell time stated for each product—and it’s different based on the disinfecting product you’re using.

We know how important it is to you that you’re maintaining safe and healthy spaces, so we’ve outlined the dwell time for our products that have been approved by the EPA for use against SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes COVID-19. Ensuring that you and your staff are following the proper dwell times will result in surfaces free of harmful pathogens.
