We just rolled out an innovative new benefit at Zogics: employees now earn $6.50 for each hour they exercise (up to $100 per month) to spend on health and wellness related expenses.
The program is called Zogics HealthCash, and the funds can be spent on gym memberships, exercise classes, personal trainers, massages, acupuncture, cryotherapy, spa visits, health diagnostics, mental health, and much more.
Workplace wellness is an essential part of our company culture. We cover 100% of employee health insurance premiums, built a company gym, subsidize the cost of joining a local CSA, give a $250 stipend each year to cover entry fees for athletic competitions, organize wellness challenges, and encourage mid-day exercise (we even have a shower in the office).
Studies have shown employers who invest in their employees’ wellness see, on average, a 28% decrease in sick days and a 26% reduction in health costs. The average return on investment (ROI) is $2.38 for every dollar spent on employee wellness, so it’s as good for the bottom line as it is for the people who work here.
Further, according to the American Psychological Association, 89% of employees are more likely to recommend their company if it has a workplace wellness program. Workforce Management Magazine notes that 77% of employees believe workplace wellness programs are a positive impact on company culture, and 87% of applicants consider workplace wellness programs when choosing an employer. In a competitive recruiting environment, a robust workplace wellness program can go a long way in setting your company apart from the competition.
If any business owners are interested in adopting any of our programs or building a company gym, feel free to reach out. We’re happy to share how we do things and what we’ve learned.
