Benefits of an Infrared Sauna

Written by Zogics | July 13, 2018

It's no secret that sauna bathing has health benefits beyond its relaxing and pampering effects. Studies show that sessions in a sauna can improve blood pressure, heart rate, and vascular health, just to name a few. However, sitting in a sauna could be a bit uncomfortable for some and leave people feeling drained instead of rejuvenated. If you wish you could reap all the benefits without any of the setbacks of traditional saunas, you're in luck.

Infrared saunas use safe, infrared heat to warm the body in the same manner as natural sunlight (without any harmful UV rays). Unlike other saunas that heat the air to extreme temperatures & make it difficult to breathe, infrared heat produces a gentle warming that comes from inside the body. To put this in perspective, a hot-air sauna operates at 180–220° F, while an infrared sauna raises temperatures to a comfortable 100—140° F.

Energy efficiency

Golden Designs, Inc. is a leading manufacturer of infrared saunas and has created a diverse line that ranges in size, cost, and features. What remains consistent among all of them is energy efficiency. These saunas do not draw a continuous flow of energy, but rather cycle on and off to regulate a set temperature, keeping energy costs down. Double paneled wall construction also helps greatly retain heat.

A relaxing & healthy activity

Naturally, sweating in a sauna means you're sweating out toxins and heavy metals through the skin. Did you know that infrared saunas raise your metabolism and help you burn calories as you sweat? You can burn up to 700 calories by just sitting in a sauna! Studies also show that infrared saunas aid with muscle aches, arthritis, hypertension, and lower blood pressure and cholesterol, just to name a few health benefits.

Infrared heat is proven to penetrate 1–1.5" into muscle tissue. Compare this to the heat generated from a traditional sauna that only penetrates 1/8"—the further heat can pass into actual muscle tissue, the more powerful the health benefits. In fact, infrared heat is actively used in the medical field and has been for decades. Wellness professionals use infrared energy as a therapeutic treatment for many health issues.

Color therapy lighting

Chromotherapy is the use of light and color to balance "energy" in a person's body, whether it is on a physical, emotional, or mental level. Many Golden Designs infrared saunas have integrated color therapy lighting built-in as an added feature. While orange light helps revitalize skin, yellow light reduces the appearance of redness, swelling, and inflammation. Blue light has been proven to have powerful anti-bacterial properties and turquoise light works as a disinfectant and antiseptic. Results vary per person, of course.

Made with only high quality and health-conscious materials

Golden Design saunas are constructed using Canadian Reforested Hemlock Wood that's kiln dried (and more importantly, contains no pesticides). There are no laminates or toxic glues used in any model. To prove their quality and ensure the highest level of scrutiny and review, these saunas have all the major certifications including ETL, CETL, and CE. Golden Designs also belongs to the ISO 9001 quality control program. Heavy duty glass doors and windows are the best in the industry, making each sauna an all-around powerhouse when it comes to health & wellness.
